Backcountry, slackcountry, sidecountry – whatever your definition the Husume has all bases covered and has quickly become a best seller in the Prior ski lineup with its incredible versatility. The Husume’s moderately long sidecut, dialed flex, 12-14mm taper, squared tail and waist width of 100-110 mm provide an excellent balance of powder float, weight savings and skinnability for the backcountry. Within ski boundaries the Husume rails on groomers and excels in chunder and variable winter conditions. A new tip and tail profile for winter 2012 provides improved powder trim and float.

XTC Carbon Construction
Prior’s new, high-performance XTC Carbon Construction for winter 2011/12 brings ski technology to the next level. XTC Carbon Construction is available as an upgrade to the Husume and Overlord ski models and saves an average of 600 grams (1lb 5oz) off each pair. Weight reduction continues to be a key to backcountry skiing as less weight means more vertical with less physical exertion. Ensuring that there is no decrease in performance with weight savings is often thought of as the Holy Grail for backcountry gear manufacturers and Prior’s XTC Carbon Construction takes a big leap towards that spiritual cup. In layman’s terms XTC Carbon Construction uses the same vertically laminated maple and aspen woodcores combined with UHMW sidewalls and bases and nylon topsheets as in their traditional construction but replaces the fibreglass weave with Prior’s newly developed XTC carbon material.
